BARRICADE

Director:  Timo Rose

Screenwriter:  Timo Rose and Ted Geoghegan

Genre:  Horror

Timo Rose's BARRICADE (Horror-Thriller)
BARRICADE, is an indie horror film written and directed by Timo Rose, featuring Joe Zaso and Raine Brown. It was co-written by Ted Geoghegan (writer of Sweat Shop) who is one of the most talented writers in indie horror today.
The story is one, set in the Black Forest mountains of Germany, of an incestuous and cannibalistic family that kill pretty much all who come to the Black Forest to camp and enjoy some of the most beautiful forest in the world. The story is not ground-breaking horror as it's been done many times in movies like THE HILLS HAVE EYES and WRONG TURN. But, it's never been done quite so violently, with so much blood, and with such much gore. It's the most violent and gory film of it's genre that I've seen.
The stand out acting comes from Raine Brown. As is often the case, she carries much of the film because Raine's acting is fantastic. I absolutely love Raine Brown and believe her to be in the top 5 most talented actresses in indie horror today. The family is scary as hell. The gore f/x are nasty and quite extreme.

The cinematography, directing, and editing are all tight as hell. Mr. Rose is involved in every aspect of the film. He co-writes, directs, edits, co-cinematography, and plays Marc, one of the family. He is a force to be reckoned with in the indie horror world and I'm truly looking forward to his spin on the werewolf genre, THE BEAST, which is now available too on Amazon.com.

Barricade makes the remake of THE HILLS HAVE EYES look like it was made by Walt Disney. Given a choice of THE HILLS HAVE EYES, WRONG TURN, or BARRICADE, choose BARRICADE. You won't be disappointed in the least.

Timo Rose's BEAST

Directors:  Timo Rose

Cast: Joe Davison, Raine Brown, Joe Zaso, Mike Mendez, Judith O'dea, Timo Rose, Eileen Daly, Thomas Kercmar, Monique Dupree, Andre Reissig

Screenwriter:  Timo Rose

Genre:  Horror / Action / Mystery

In appreciation of werewolf themed films, Timo Rose did a good job showing the inhumane strength that a werewolf can muster. There is plenty of violence and blood to drench this movie in action and suspense of regular people being hunted by giant monsters. Even though the music seemed cheesy with dramatic opera singers shouting “beast” promoting the movie, the new spin on the werewolf genre of movie is a definite fun viewing.

Timo Rose’s Beast (2009)

Guest Appearance by Judy O'dea (George A. Romero's Night of the living Dead) and Big Ass Spider / Gravedancers & The Convent director Mike Mendez

Timo Rose's GAME OVER

Director:  Timo Rose

Cast: Debbie Rochon, Raine Brown, Magdalena Kalley, Nicola Fiore, Manoush, Sam E. Terry

Screenwriter:  Timo Rose

Genre:  Horror / Thriller

Tina (Debbie Rochon), a young actress who left the States for Germany-she fell in love, so she left for a man. Two good friends (Raine Brown and Nicola Fiore) of hers come over to visit Tina for her birthday-but the next 24 hours will be very brutal, as the three are kidnapped by an sadistic maniac. He plays brutal and primitive games with them, and every attempt they make to escape leads them deeper into hell! Game Over is co-produced, edited, written and directed by Timo Rose who also handles the special effects. The acting is good, but I´ll give special praise to Magdalèna Kalley as Sasha and Manoush as Amanda. The camerawork and editing is good. The pacing is nice, after the introduction of the characters and getting to know them it doesn´t take long for things to kick off and after that we get rape, degradation, sadism, gory kills, sleaze and even a twist. The soundtrack is good. It´s very violent and very gory, it´s good looking practical gore fx courtesy of Timo Rose. There´s only very brief female topless nudity in this, actually we get to see more of a mans ass. There are three rape scenes, (both female and male victims) one of which is graphic, and there is incest.
This review is based upon the region all (Region 0) DVD release from Cinema Image Productions.
Rating: 6½ out of 7. Timo Rose is back with a bang! Game Over is a very nice return to form by Timo Rose after a series of uneven movies. Game Over is somewhat reminiscent of his earlier effort Rigor Mortis - The Final Colours (Video 2003) in its unrelenting display of nastiness and graphic violence. Gorehounds rejoice, this one is for you! This is proof that the extreme german gore genre isn´t dead but very much alive and kicking. Thanks to a talented crew, gore and sleaze I will say that Game Over packs quite a punch. Make sure to check it out!!
